They are seen as a danger. In reality, they need protection.
The Iberian orcas are one of the most endangered orca populations in the world. Fewer than 35 animals still live in the Atlantic between Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Since the early 2000s, interactions between Iberian orcas and sailboats have been observed. Media headlines called them "orca attacks" – researchers describe playful or learned behavior. The result: public hostility toward a species that is already on the brink of extinction.
The Iberian Orca Guardians Foundation works to accompany sailors, collect data, and correct the public image of these animals.

The IOGF is committed to protecting the endangered Iberian orcas – animals suffering from human retaliation, illegal fishing, and habitat destruction. Our mission: to secure the survival of these majestic creatures – through education, public outreach, direct protection measures, and fostering peaceful coexistence between humans and orcas.

You can use the code as many times as you like. The campaign – and with it the code – ends on July 14, 2026 at 12:00 PM.

July 14 is World Orca Day – the right moment for us to take stock and hand over the total donations collected. The campaign is deliberately timed to the Iberian orcas' active season: from April to November they are present in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Gulf of Cádiz, peaking between June and August. This is exactly when the Iberian Orca Guardians Foundation's work is most intensive – patrols, education, protection measures on the water. So every euro from this campaign arrives right where it's needed most.
