The highlight: astaxanthin – the shield of the blood rain alga
Astaxanthin comes from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis – the so-called blood rain alga. When its habitat dries out and it is exposed to extreme UV radiation, it turns red: it produces astaxanthin as its own shield against the sun. A survival mechanism the alga has perfected over millions of years.
This very power makes astaxanthin one of nature's most potent antioxidants. It works across the cell membrane – protecting the skin from inside and outside at once, neutralising free radicals, slowing collagen breakdown and visibly helping to reduce fine lines. For the thin, heavily stressed eye area this is decisive: damage from light and environmental stress appears here first – and here astaxanthin shows its effect most visibly. Hydration & freshness: hyaluronic acid, organic aloe vera and vitamin C
A low-molecular hyaluronic acid complex penetrates deeper skin layers, binds water and visibly plumps up dryness lines. Organic aloe vera leaf juice – the base of the formula instead of water – soothes and relieves puffiness. A stabilised vitamin C derivative (ascorbyl glucoside) adds antioxidant protection and gives a fresher, more even radiance.
